Boxes of old photographs. A shelf of VHS tapes from a wedding, a christening, a summer that’s fading a little more each year it sits in a loft. Cambria Archive turns them into digital files you can actually watch, share, and keep safe — handled to a standard most local services simply can’t match.
What we offer
From a single box of photos to a full family archive, here’s what we offer:
- Every photo scanned twice at maximum resolution and combined into a single uncompressed TIFF master file — the gold standard for long-term preservation
- Each item assessed and given a light clean (air-duster) before scanning
- VHS tape digitisation (other camcorder formats such as Hi8 and Digital8 may follow in future)
- Large-Format & Document Scanning — up to A3 (432mm x 300mm), for certificates, newspaper clippings, artwork, and oversized prints, with searchable PDF/OCR output available for text documents
- Restoration and clean-up of damaged or faded originals (optional, priced separately)
- Delivered on USB or cloud storage, properly labelled and organised — not just a folder of files named IMG_001
- Faster, lower-resolution scans available on request if you don't need an archival master
Why properly matters
Before Cambria Tech, our background includes archival work with the National Library of Wales — handling historic photographs, documents, and recordings to professional preservation standards. That’s why every photo and negative is scanned twice, at the highest resolution the scanner can manage, and combined into a single uncompressed TIFF master file: the same approach used for long-term archival preservation, not a compressed JPEG that degrades the moment you save it. Before scanning, we assess and gently clean each item. That’s not a claim many people digitising your tapes at a kiosk in town can make — we treat your family’s history the way an archive would: carefully, in the right conditions, with proper file naming and organisation, not a quick camera-phone job.
